Experience

Bill J. Sumski, Esq., has extensive experience in managing complicated development and redevelopment projects in the Western United States. Prior to co-founding Townsend Real Estate Partners, he served as a director of acquisitions and development for Prentiss Properties Trust, a $2 billion publicly traded REIT that recently merged into Brandywine Realty Trust. Mr. Sumski has participated in over $1 billion of real estate transactions during his 18 years in the industry.

Recently completed and current projects include the redevelopment and disposition of Eastmont Town Center, a 700,000 square foot mixed use project which included office, retail and residential uses; the acquisition, re-entitlement and disposition of a core ½ acre land parcel in Downtown Oakland; the acquisition and renovation of a 100 room hotel in the Union Square area of San Francisco into boutique hotel; and the entitlement and marketing of a 70 unit single family and townhome residential development on the Island County of Bermuda. After graduating from law school, Mr. Sumski practiced transactional real estate law, focusing on acquisition and development projects. Today, Mr. Sumski relies heavily on his legal expertise as his projects are complex and include historic preservation, environmental issues, entitlement, and redevelopment.
