Mr. Leon is a named principal of Rawson, Blum and Leon, a San Francisco-based multi-faceted real estate organization specializing in the acquisition, development and management of commercial properties. Since its inception in 1974, Rawson, Blum & Leon has acquired and managed more than 75 properties with an aggregate value in excess of $750 million. The company has engaged in joint venture relationships with many of the nation’s most prestigious financial institutions. In addition, it raises private capital from high net worth US-based and European investors. Rawson, Blum & Leon’s strategic direction is shaped by the more than 100 years of retail experience. In 2004, Rawson, Blum & Leon formed a joint venture with Weingarten Realty Investors (NYSE:WRI; www.weingarten.com). WRI is a Houston, Texas-based real estate investment trust, which owns more than 46 million square feet of commercial property throughout the United States. After selling much of its portfolio in 2005 – 2007, Rawson, Blum & Leon’s currently operates approximately 1.5 million square feet located in Oregon, California, Texas, and Louisiana.
Since joining the Firm in 1998, Mr. Leon has had primary responsibility for all company acquisition activities including asset identification, negotiations and due diligence process management. In the past 10 years, Mr. Leon has acquired assets located in California, the Pacific Northwest, and the Southeast. Mr. Leon began his commercial real estate career in 1986 when he joined Live Oak Enterprises, a Walnut Creek-based real estate development company. At Live Oak, Mr. Leon was involved in development projects located in the Bay Area and Sacramento. In 1989, Mr. Leon formed Asset Marketing, Inc., a real estate consulting firm which provided specialized services to its clients in the areas of acquisition, development, equity and debt financing, strategic marketing, and the sales of commercial properties in Northern California. Mr. Leon’s clients included Bear Stearns, Goldman Sachs, TMG Partners, Pacific Union Company, and Wente Winery.
Mr. Leon earned his BA degree with honors from Northwestern University in 1982. He was also a member of the honorary fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta. Mr. Leon also earned his juris doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1985. Mr. Leon is a former Trustee of Town School For Boys in San Francisco and is a current member of its Alumni Council member, an Alumni Admission Council representative for Northwestern University, a member of the Planning Committee for the International Council of Shopping Centers, and a Board Member of the City of Hope. Mr. Leon is also involved in numerous charitable organizations including St. Anthony’s and the Salvation Army.
As Receiver Administrator/Regional Asset Manager for FedReceiver, Mr Leon manages all northern California receivership matters, including, leasing, property management, asset disposition, construction supervision, liquidations, auctions and all business/equity/real property case administration matters.
